This year the Global Gifts and Crafts Shop will highlight hand-made items from Bangkok, Thailand.  A women's crafts cooperative in a very poor neighborhood of that city make greeting cards and colorful silk flowers.   These artisans provide primary income to low income families in that city.

Lifting women and children out of poverty the world over by providing a place to sell quality food and products. Items are made in small workshops where assistance and training are provided to those who would otherwise have nothing.

The shop is non-profit, staffed by volunteers, and all "profits" go to mostly Third World craftspersons and artisans who made the gifts and crafts.  The Shop offers a large and varied inventory of quality merchandise at reasonable prices.

All proceeds from Global Gifts Shop are returned through the purchase of more merchandise to sell, to the women & children who have created the food and products sold in Global Gifts.

Women and children are given a safe place to learn and develop skills that will empower them to earn a living wage and rise up out of poverty.

                               Global Gifts History

Established in 1994 by Jan Jones, wife of past pastor, Stephen Jones and church member Elaine Blocher, this ministry was a personal commitment for Jan, who previously had lived in the Philippines and had seen first hand people who lived with poverty and disease.

An article from the Observer and Eccentric dated November 13, 1997 recorded what Jan had to say. While living in the Philippines, Jan would “Often see the children playing near the Co-op hut (for Christian Cottage Industries) and they would be called in to help with the packing. I really did see it as a family focus and a chance for the children to go to school and have family meals.” The Global Gifts and Craft Shop continues to provide opportunity for at risk people of the world to earn a fair wage.

Open during the Season of Advent, countries involved include not only the USA, but the Philippines, India, Guatemala, Africa, Costa Rica and more.
